Thanx man! Ive started using gb32 again, havent coded much since my atari days. Ive managed to throw together some nice code though. Are there any forums where there are any active GB32 users? I am currently very active, looking for more in-depth information on how to use declare for acessing functions in dll files, dont know where to start Should i take a look at the VB manual or are there any useful litterature i should read? Thanx again for helping out, if anyone on this site is an active gfa coder and want to share sourcecodes etc, contact me here or something, ill check back here regularly, since there arent that many active forums for gfa, ive been looking high and low! /Boggan - Sweden!

I'm glad that helped. Declaring functions from .dll's is similar to VB, although you need to be careful with variable types - GB32 doesn't support the ANY type for example. It's worth noting that many standard API functions are automatically declared and are available within GB32 - see gfabasic32.blogspot.co.uk/2009/03/brief-overview-of-gfa-basic-32.html (about halfway down the page under "Win32 API functions are built-in"). To find the few remaining active GB32 coders, it is probably best to join the mailing list which they seem to prefer to use - see gfa-basic.liebenstein.de/mailinglist_en.htm. That said, keep posting stuff to this forum as well - you never now, if this site shows a little more activity, we may start attracting people back to GB32, and that can only be good.

Thanx for the info, guess ill have to sit my ass down and read some FAQ's Are there no libraries or similar for gfa that makes gxf a little easier , im thinking 3d and such. Tried to download shiny3d on this forum but the link was dead... did anyone who's still active download it, if so maybe a re-post of it? Tips on texts to read to get the hang of winsock would be nice. I have no idea wich functions are included in winsock32.dll and therefore i dont know what to declare to make use of it. (Having the same problem with ALL dll's)

Yes i have downloaded many of the examples, i might remember wrong but much of the commentary in the listings where in german, but i might remember wrong, although im kinda used to german from the old Atari days and ive taken german lessons for one year, i still dont understand it nearly as much as i would like. I really apreciate that you took time to help me, if anyone here need help i will try to recipricate the favour. Ive written an arkanoid clone in GFA, and a thing that bothers me is that GET/PUT (gfx) is kinda slow when you are working with large images (I want to scroll two or three images ontop of eachother with transparent sections as to create a paralax effect), and when i do that i cant even maintain 25fps so i REALLY need a way to move and display large bitmaps. Bitblt i feel is kinda limiting and badly documented. I couldnt even have a moving background on my Arkanoid clone because it became too slow, so i had to work on a black, blank screen. I know there are dlls you can use to manipulate images, blending and such, but havent seen anything that lets me load a bitmap and then display it on any cordinate .. and do it lightning fast (I mean 100+ fullscreen (1600x1200) 24Bit bitmaps/Sec) Shouldnt even be a problem with todays computers. I dont want to use directX its way too bulky for my taste, i want simplicity If anyone have used GFA for gaming or graphics manipulation in realtime, i would apreciate pointers/listings, hell any help at all is apreciated. I will check that mailing list out, i wish everyone would find their way here so there could be some serious discussion.

The best place for graphic manipulation examples is Peter Heinzig's site at www.peterheinzig.de/index_e.html. Although some of his routines only work on Win2000/XP (or Windows 5 family OSs), there are some useful examples in his list which apply to the newer Win Vista/7/8 (or Windows 6 family) OSs. I hope this helps.
